Are you eligible to join homesfirst?
Once you have read the following information click Next at the bottom of the page.
- You need to be over 16 years of age.
- Have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
- If you are a Stafford and Rural Homes tenant you need to have held your current tenancy for at least 12 months.
- If you are aStafford and Rural Homes Mortgage Rescue tenant you will need to have held your current tenancy for at least 3 years.
If you do not meet one or more of these requirements you will need to contact our Housing Choices Team on 0800 111 4554.
How to join
All you will need to do is tell us about yourself and anyone who will be moving with you, then answer some simple questions about why you need to move home. Please take the time to ensure you answer ALL the questions fully and accurately, as we need the information to help us ensure that you receive the right level of priority for housing. If any of the information is missing or incorrect it may lead to a delay in processing your application.
You will need to give us your.
- National Insurance number for yourself and any other household member over the age of 18
- Addresses for you and your partner for the last 1 year including dates you moved in and out.
- Dates of birth for all household members
- If you or any other members of your household are owner occupier you will need the value of your property and the amount of equity.
- Income and savings for you and your partner.
References
If you are not already a Stafford and Rural Homes tenant you will need to provide two suitable references for each applicant before your application can be made live. If you do not supply two suitable references for each applicant within 28 days of submitting your details your application will be cancelled. References should be from a landlord or former landlord, employer or former employer or any other professional person. See Glossary of Terms for full details regarding references. You can download references from the checklist page at the end of the application.
Once you have submitted two suitable references for each applicant, within 5 days of joining Homesfirst you will be told:
- Which band you are in.
- Your band entry date.
- Confirmation of your Unique Pin Number (UPIN).
- The types of property, including the number of bedrooms you can bid for.
Once you have been given this information it means you have joined the scheme and are ready to log on and find a home with Homes First.
You will need to know your UPIN to log on to homesfirst and look for a property so it is important you keep it safe.
When you go to the Homes First Choice Based Lettings website all you will need to do is click on 'log on' and give us your UPIN, last name and date of birth. This will allow you to choose a home.
